Southlands British International School British International School is a proud member of Globeducate, one of the leading K-12 international education groups in the world – a network of 55 premium bilingual and international schools, as well as online programmes, educating 28,000 students in nine countries.

The Globeducate British International Schools Group

Globeducate British International Schools is made up of schools in France, Spain, Italy and Portugal. Each school teaches the English National Curriculum and offers a flexible and student-centred approach to learning. Some schools also teach the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in Sixth Form.

All of our schools teach a broad and balanced curriculum that goes beyond the academic to encourage students to develop a deeper understanding of the world. At GBIS schools, students are encouraged to nurture their own talents – and appreciate the perspectives and gifts of others.

A committed school

Like other Globeducate schools, we are committed to the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. Within this commitment, we have entered into partnerships with international organisations such as the Eco-schools Project and WWF (World Wildlife Fund), participating in global school projects that involve students, teachers and parents, and bringing together a worldwide community of more than 100,000 people.

These partnerships are a great opportunity for our students, allowing them to interact with students from different countries and cultures to address some of the environmental challenges we face and to gain awareness of how to tackle them. Our aim is to ensure that our students are committed to making the world a better place for everyone to live in, preparing them to embrace the great challenges of our time.

Our global partnership with WWF

All Globeducate schools benefit from a global and unique partnership with the World Wildlife Fund. Teachers and students are able to draw on the wealth of educational resources that WWF have created and have opportunities to take part in summits, live events with experts and in pilot projects in sustainability education. We are proud to work with WWF on these projects.

Globeducate Eco-Schools Pledge

Eco-Schools is the world´s largest sustainability education programme and it offers an accessible framework for schools in every country in which we work. Globeducate schools are all committed to being Eco-Schools and to achieving and retaining Green Flag status – using this globally recognised benchmark as a tangible tool for meeting our vision to address the UN Sustainability Development Goals 2030 and to prepare each student to become a global citizen who can shape the world.

Celebrating the planet as a global team

Our schools celebrate United Nations official days to support eco-awareness and conservation. Across our network, our students and teachers work with their own Eco-School committees and come up with inspiring ways to mark globally recognised eco events such as Earth Hour, Earth Week and Earth Day, as well as those less well known such as International Bee Day, International Oceans Day and World Wildlife Day.

A Globeducate school creates opportunities to connect with students from our schools across the world to come together, in person or online, for sport, music, arts, academic challenges and to work with others to help build a more equal, fair and sustainable world. A crucial part of providing an excellent education, Globeducate teachers inspire our students to find their voice in this world. They encourage them to understand world events and to think about their values and what is important to them, and to challenge ignorance and intolerance.

Globeducate Events

Globeducate schools offer unique opportunities for true global readiness. Throughout the academic year, Globeducate regularly organises events and invites students and teachers from across our network to attend or, where possible, participate remotely. Our events are organised into three areas: Globeducate Events, Globeducate Agenda and Learning Communities. This approach allows everyone to see how different events link to create the best possible experiences for our students all over the world.
