A Leading IB School
Southlands is an International Baccalaureate World School authorised to offer the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) in the senior school.
The whole school is fully aligned with the IB ethos. This philosophy and methodology extends far beyond examination success and its basic principle is to support the development of lifelong learners and global leaders in a caring and supportive capacity.
With our international student community in mind, the completion of the IB Diploma Programme is often the best pathway for students wishing to continue their international education.
In order to be truly successful in the IBDP programme students need to follow a rigorous pre-IB syllabus. This is achieved by undertaking other established and successful education programmes.
At Southlands, we start this process in our Foundation Stage (Nursery and Reception) where we follow the Early Years Foundation programme of England. Children then follow the National Curriculum for England from Year 1 (5 years old) until Year 9 (13 years old).
The values of the IB Learner Profile are apparent throughout the whole school. Students are encouraged to become curious and independent learners through participating actively in carefully graded practical and exciting learning experiences. In this way they experience success, achieve self-confidence and become motivated individuals.
