At Southlands International School we believe that every student has the ability to achieve their full potential, be valued, be respected, and be able to develop an enthusiasm for lifelong learning. Through early identification and intervention, students are able to receive the right support to access the curriculum, develop independence, and have high expectations of their potential achievements.
Our SEN department works with a wide range of student needs throughout school. We provide in-class support through one-to-one and group sessions, which are tailored to a student’s specific needs. Following a systematic planning system, we ensure that pupils are identified early, bespoke interventions are put in place, and regular reviews with staff and parents are held.
Referrals to the SEN department are usually submitted by the student’s class/subject teacher or form tutor, but we also welcome concerns that parents have. We work closely with everyone involved, including the students themselves, teachers, parents, and external specialists to provide students with the appropriate assistance to ensure they are getting the best support they possibly can.
