In the Senior School (Key Stages 3 to 5 for ages 11 to 17) we aim to build on the strength and values already nurtured in Early Years and Primary. Our objective is to offer maximum opportunities to students in a caring environment, enabling them to reach their potential in all areas of school life.
KEY STAGE 3Years 7 to 9
Ages 11 to 13
Our broad and balanced curriculum, taught by specialist teachers, provides our secondary pupils with a solid foundation of academic knowledge.
We encourage their competency in several languages and offer numerous possibilities to establish relationships with people from other cultures, which is aided by our relationship with other NACE international schools.
To ensure that we are educating well-rounded and caring individuals, all students also participate in creative and community service projects.
Personal, Social, Health Education (PSHE) forms a core part of the curriculum to support personal development. Pupils study a broad range of subjects, developing their interests so they can make informed decisions when they choose their IGCSE subjects at Key Stage 4.
The children are also given the opportunity to take IGCSE or GCSE examinations in French and Italian (where appropriate). Students can opt to take the Italian Middle School state exams (Licenza Media) in either Year 8 or Year 9.
Southlands offers two levels of Italian, one for children who speak Italian as a first language and an alternative option for children who do not have mother-tongue proficiency. We prepare students for the Italian state exams according to the Italian Ministerial Program.
