Languages are something we are passionate about at Southlands. Our Modern Foreign Languages department receives outstanding results every year with students gaining an incredible subject grade average of 6.71 out of a maximum of 7 in 2020.
Last week our IBDP linguists once again stepped into the limelight by producing some absolutely fantastic written work.
In Year 13 Italian B, Martina, Bachir and Francesco were singled out for praise for creating excellent online resources during their unit of work on careers. Visit Martina's original site here.
In Year 13 French B, Francesco was singled out again for writing a superb book review, about which Madame Mattei had the following to say:
"I encourage reading in MFL even if this is not part of the examined programme. Apart from filling in a very good reading log, Francesco has also written a blog on Saint Exupéry's famous book Le Petit Prince, which he really enjoyed reading! In my opinion, his work is excellent in terms of linguistic quality (grammar with complex sentences and different verb tenses, variety of adjectives and lexis in general), as well as being a pleasure to read. Enjoy!"
Huge credit to all of the students involved here, as well as to Madame Mattei, who works tirelessly to lead our students towards linguistic excellence.
