University & Careers

The University & Careers programme is an important part of everyday life at Southlands. Whilst all our Secondary students are involved in the speaker programme and discussions about academic options, the programme starts in earnest in Year 12 and is designed to help students research university courses and better understand their options after sixth form. With the support of our University & Careers Counsellor, students are inspired to live passionately, authentically and intentionally. Input is integrated into the PSHE and Sixth Form Enrichment programmes so that students receive dedicated and specialist advice regularly throughout the academic year.

A key characteristic of our programme is the links with outside agencies we invest in. Every half-term, Southlands welcomes visitors from universities and individuals representing the world of work.  Students have the opportunity to participate in projects, courses, events and competitions to broaden their personal perspective and boost their CV at the same time.  University visits are arranged throughout the year, both locally and further afield, again supporting students to make informed choices about their next steps and future pathways.

Parents who are interested in learning more about our programme are invited to contact the school and make an appointment with Mrs Kelly-Saltaleggio, our University & Careers Counsellor.
