Southlands FC at the AOSR Super Cup!

Two Southlands Football Teams were finally back out on the pitch again this weekend, after a long wait, in a very entertaining affair that saw all RISA schools participate in the annual AOSR Super Cup at Campo Gentili.

Teams from Ambrit, St Georges School, AOSR, Castelli and more were out playing under the Roman sun and it was Southlands that took the spotlight with some very dominating performances.

For the first team, the team managed to win every one of their group games, finishing top of the league as overall winners after some very satisfying wins and a grueling affair that saw Captain Freddie steal the points with a decisive winning goal, against rivals St Georges, in the last minute.

Arop, playing his first ever tournament, took to the sticks and was unstoppable in goal. He stood the test and conceded no goals throughout the matches.

For our second team, it was a mixed event, as they began with a great win which saw Aris score a wonderful goal from the edge of the box and Lucas finally net his first Southland goals of the morning. After that win and a draw, the team fought hard but were unable to shake off some pretty difficult opposition and will learn greatly from this experience when they take to the field again soon.

Our next tournament will happen on June 11th and will see our Under 9 players finally getting their day at Campo Gentili. We hope to see as many of you there in support and look forward to another great weekend of football.
