Stellar performances at Southlands!

We are delighted to share the fantastic performances of our students' I/GCSE grades

Following three years of disruption to their studies, Year 11 have achieved a fantastic set of results, even managing to improve on the previous year's  grades.  With an overall pass rate  of  94%, well above the 73% pass rate in the UK, students should feel very proud of their performances.

Students achieved a  100% pass rate for our core subjects English language, Maths, Science and MFL, with some outstanding individual performances. We are particularly pleased that the number of passes in each of  the  9 - 6 range improved at each grade band.

As in previous years, modern languages continue to be an area of strength with excellent results.  56.5% of students scored the highest possible grade.   Our  Year 9 students who sat their French and Italian exams two years early, also performed incredibly well:  their average grade was 8.6 and 13 students out of the 18 entered achieved the highest possible grades of 9.  We look forward to seeing languages continue to flourish at Southlands!

Principal, Mrs Del Federico commented,  "I am so proud of these results, which along with the IBDP performances of Year 13, really do reflect resilience, hard work and determination.   As the saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child, and likewise, there are many individuals  who helped to shape these successes.  My thanks go to all of the teachers and support staff for their  encouragement, coaching and great teaching.  Also, we are  grateful for the amazing support of our Southlands parents who have been such excellent and caring sources of support to the students as they have navigated the many obstacles  presented by pandemic era school and home life! "

Whilst we are obviously delighted with these wonderful results, it is important to recognise that a great education goes beyond the purely academic.  We are particularly pleased that Year 11  have contributed much to school life too, and are sure that we will see plenty more engagement in sport, arts and service from them as they move into the next phase of their academic journey.
