Events, Trips and Educational Visits
At Southlands, the structured and welcoming learning environment is enhanced by educational and residential visits as well as a range of annual events and celebrations.
Residential visits start at Year 6 with a visit to Polvese Island in Italy. All year groups in the Senior School visit a foreign country. These trips are tailored to allow our students to develop as effective global citizens whilst honing in on specific areas of the curriculum.

A highlight of the year is the annual Barbecue which takes place in June. Up to one thousand parents, family, friends, children and staff attend. It is a time that many alumni return and reminisce about their years at Southlands. Primary students can take part in the "Southlands Has Talent” event where every performer leaves with a medal and enjoys motivational comments from the judges (teachers).
The European Day of Languages is celebrated globally on 26th September, as proclaimed by the Council of Europe on 6 December 2001. Its aim is to encourage language learning across Europe. To mark the occasion, in 2018 the school hosted an international cakes and pastries event. Some of the pupils in the Secondary School brought in cakes and pastries from a variety of countries. The funds raised were donated to charity.
