At Southlands, our sports facilities include three football pitches: a covered five-a-side grass pitch, a full sized practice pitch and what we like to call our "Wembley” pitch, which hosts a number of events including our sports days. We also have two basketball courts and a volleyball court.Primary School
Physical Education (P.E.) is about pupils learning about themselves: their capabilities, their potential and their limitations. P.E. lessons start in Nursery through to Year 6. We have a well-equipped gym, a five-a-side- grass football pitch, an outdoor basketball court that is used for many activities and a grass regulation-size football pitch.
Year 5 and 6 pupils have their P.E. lessons at the nearby Eschilo 2 sports centre, using the facilities that this well equipped club has to offer. They do swimming, tennis, dance and games, consolidating and gaining new skills.
At the end of the school year, each year group has its own special Sports Day, which we warmly encourage friends and relatives to attend. All our teaching is delivered with a non-competitive but enjoyable professional approach, and we believe this allows our children to express themselves in complete freedom.
Our small class sizes allow us to focus on specific skill development and tailored activities for pupils, whilst also providing the flexibility to try new sports on a regular basis. Most of our lessons take place at a local sports centre, which has specialist sporting equipment and facilities including tennis courts and a full size swimming pool.
Our teaching staff have extensive background in a variety of sports and fitness including but not limited to, football, netball, hockey, swimming and dance. We also offer a fantastic tennis tuition scheme using professional tennis coaches.
Overall, the variety of sporting activities along with the dedication and passion of our teachers will support your children in making responsible lifestyle choices for their future.
